JMY went out to Bärsta for some final observations of the crop fields, in the hope of finding some late nesting skylarks; but all was silent. It seems that the lark breeding season is over for this year. Survey plot marker sticks were also removed from the fields, in readiness for the harvest machines coming in the next week or so.

JMY continued to collect in field posts.

Ortolans

JMY undertook a search for Ortolans around Söröslätten, observing a male singing intermittent long songs.

JMY continued to search for Skylarks in survey plots, hampered by poor weather and lack of activity she began to collect in marker posts after a good season surveying.

Nest checks around Kvismaren were undertaken, TMJ visited Segesjön with MBR checking nests.

Skylarks

JMY completed her wetland survey report and skylark report in the morning. She then went to Värsta to search for feeding Skylark chicks and also for nests but doesn´t succeed. After she went to Söröslätten and found fledgling Ortolan Bunting feed by adults.

JMY spent a long time looking for feeding Skylarks close to Ängfallet. A little later, JMY and MMJ located a Skylark nest with 3 chicks in, which were ringed.

Weather: Cold and cloudy in the morning but got sunny around 10 ahead

JMY and MPN did skylark plots at hay fields, counting skylark activity and individuals

Ortolan Buntings

JMY went to sörösläatten to check the activity of the Ortolan buntings.

JMY looked in vein for Skylarks feeding around the area. An ice cream from Störa mellosa in the afternoon lifted her spirits.

TMJ went to Slottsviken and caught two females, one with a logger. MBR ringed one brood of chicks and checked two others on hatching day, all was well.

JMY and MPN surveyed an area in search of nests and marked some areas where there has been feeding activity.

Weather: Torrential rain until about 15.30! Then a little bit of sunshine

Skylarks

JMY went for an evening stroll once the rain finally cleared, to check out the skylark action. A late night attempt to flush fledgling skylarks into nets along the track last night failed, so we are still hoping to get out and find some more nests, in order to take blood samples from the chicks. Weather hampered any efforts for most of the day.
