Standardised ringing
Ringing took place at Vallen. 22 nets were set up. That is two less than normal because one pole got broken while setting up nets. The weather was apparently perfect, sunny and warm with no wind, but surprisingly the number of captures was not too high; 43. However, we got the happy surprise of a foreign recapture of a very big Sedge warbler (Wing=72) who came to visit us from Italy. Detailed list bellow:

86 cranes were counted at Husön at 10:00 after the standardised ringing.
Ortolan bunting
APN observed an unringed female and a juvenile Ortolan bunting at Söroslatten. Unfortunately, they did not fall into the nets. We hope to get them and colour ring them next day.

Standardised ringing
Ringing took place at BanVallen. High water level caused by the latest rains and a broken pole allowed us to only set up 12 nets. Not too busy morning, but we enjoyed the birds that we got, which included the Icterine warbler in the picture.
Ringing took place at Vallen. A deep foggy until 6:30 am. After cloudy and rainy intermittently. In total, 50 birds of 8 species were caught, 39 of them new and 11 recaptures. Birds caught listed in detail below:
Strong rain again at early morning did not allowed ringing at Vallen. Tomorrow looks we will have better luck! (Crossed fingers). However, from 11 to 14 the complete ringing team had the chance to let free a bit of the energy pilled up during the inactivity days. A bit of summer make us company while strimming at vallen, armed with pruning scissor, machete and the strimmer.
Yet another rainy day meant that ringing at Vallen was cancelled early. The raining continued for more or less the whole day, hampering attempts of ringing at Ängfallet. Instead the afternoon was spent mending nets and double-checking data. The weather forecast keeps looking grim, but we are keeping our fingers crossed for tomorrow!

Weather: Rainy.
Projects: Ringing.
Standardised ringing
Rain at 4 am and 5 am frustrated the ringing at Vallen this morning. However, some ringing took place at Ängfallet later, resulting in the capture of a female Greenfinch and a juvenile Red-backed Shrike.
Office work had been done during the day, especially double checking of some ringing data.
