4th August 2015
Staff: APN, MMJ, LDC, , HHT
Weather: sunny and windy quiet
Projects: Ringing,
Standardised ringing
Ringing took place at Vallen. 22 nets were set up. That is two less than normal because one pole got broken while setting up nets. The weather was apparently perfect, sunny and warm with no wind, but surprisingly the number of captures was not too high; 43. However, we got the happy surprise of a foreign recapture of a very big Sedge warbler (Wing=72) who came to visit us from Italy. Detailed list bellow:
Sedge Warbler (A.schoenobaenus) 13+1rec
Marsh Warbler (A.palustris) 3
Reed Warbler (A.scirpaceus) 11+4rec
Whitethroat (S.communis) 1
Garden Warbler (S.borin) 3
Willow Warbler (Ph.trochillus) 2
Bearded tit (P.biarmicus) 2
Great Tit (P.major) 1
Great Reed warbler (A.arundinaceus) 2rec
Total: 43 birds; 36 new birds (33 were juveniles 10) and 7 recaptures (including 2 Great reed warblers; one with a logger from this year).
