A good morning at Vallen today with 75 birds ringed including the 2nd Bluethroat for the season.

Weather: Showers and windy.

It was raining in the morning and the ringing started late at Bonvallen with only 29 birds ringed. KLE and DLE also left us this morning.

Weather: Very Cold Morning then Sunny and Calm.

Despite it being a very cold morning we still caught some interesting species like the common rosefinch and tree pipit. We ringed a total of 82 birds, covering 17 species

The weather is still not very good for ringing. This morning we managed to ring few hours in Banvallen despite of the wind before the rain started. Finally 52 birds of 15 species.

Today we couldn´t carry on the Standardized Ringing because of the strong wind with gusts of more than 10 m/s. Time to rest and do some office work.

A very quiet morning at Vallen, most likely because it was very windy though breeding birds appear to be moving off without birds from further north appearing to have reached us yet. A meagre 44 new birds of 8 species were ringed, which doesn’t sound too bad but is around a quarter of our best day at the site.

Another busy morning in Banvallen with a total of 108 new ringed birds and 16 different species, being the Sedge Warbler and Reed Warbler the most abundant species. The juvenile Water Rail has been the highlight for today.

We had another quite morning at Ässön this morning with only 36 new birds ringed in total. However, we did manage to recapture a Willow Warbler that we ringed at Bonvallen last month, and the second Goldcrest for the season.

River Warbler

1st August 2016

Weather: Started off cloudy but the sun came out mid-morning

Projects: Standardised Ringing

A morning with ideal ringing conditions at Banvallen produced the first River Warbler of the standardised ringing! Other than that it was a fairly normal session with 86 new birds of 20 species ringed, including the 2nd Treecreeper of the season.
