Projects: Standardized Ringing

As the weather forecast was quite good we decided to go to Ässön for a ringing session. However the morning was a bit more windy that we would had liked. We managed to ring 47 birds of 16 species, including the first Bullfinch and Coal Tit of the season.

On the other hand, there was a strong migration of different finches species flying in big flocks to the South the whole morning. Wish some of them stop in our nets!

This morning we made two teams: JMZ and AZL managed to carry out the test fishing and trapped 29 fishes of 2 species (Crucian Carp and Common Rudd)

Meanwhile, LAR and FGA were ringing in Banvallen despite the windy morning. We ringed 59 birds of 17 species.

Weather: Cold and Sunny with strong winds

We had another quite day in Bonvallen with a total of 75 new birds and 14 different species ringed as the wind has picked up along the morning. The most noteworthy is the increasing number of Dunnocks trapped today, which makes us to think that their migration has already started and now they are arriving to us. Hopefully, we will ring many of the Dunnock migrating to the South during the next dew days, if the weather conditions improve.

Weather: Sunny and strong wind

Projects: Test Fishing

Today was time to fight the wind and doing the Test Fishing at Östra (Åslasjön) and Västra (Fågelsjön). We trapped more than 200 fishes of 5 species. The most common was Crucian Carp as expected, but also some Tench, Roach, Rudd and Perch were caught.
