Today Gintaras left for few days but on the other hand Jacob has arrived to join us for some days.
This morning we did the Wetland Census there were a lot of waders migrating like Spotted Redshanks, Ruffs and even 3 MARSH SANDPIPERS.

So we finally have internet again, somehow we have survived in this post apocalyptic landscape and have managed to continue the hard work in the field too.

Today wetland census was conducted on the entire Reserve covered by the observatory staff. Great reed warbler team also brought a new canoe

An easy-going Saturday.
Marsh harriers were checked at Fågelsjön and Rysjön in the morning with nothing new to be reported.
GRW team was sorting and preparing the material for the field season. Some canoes and wader boots received a little bit of love and had some fixing.

Last night the Great Reed Warbler team got here.
This morning DWE and I found another Marsh Harrier nest in Fagelsjön but the activity on the lake was low due to the cold.

Finally, spring seems to be here! Though it still froze overnight, there was significant signs that it might actually be warm enough to remove a layer of clothing soon!

Weather: Sunshine and snow depending on the way the clouds felt.

Today DWE and CDF covered Rysjön once again and this time managed to locate a nest for a pair we had suspected to be in the area. This is now 2 nests for Rysjön. As well as this DWE showed CDF some more of the areas around Kvismaren.
Birding highlights included the first 2 Little Gulls of the year, 5 Swallows on Rysjön and a Bewicks Swan, a lifer for CDF.

Today Rysjön was covered and more nest building was observed on the pair already found. There was 1 more pair in the area though no nest building was seen.
This evening Carles has arrived to join the team effort for the season.

After yesterdays Marsh Harrier success Åslaholmen was the site again to try and get some more firm evidence on a few of the nests in the area. Though many pairs were active and nest building, none of the pairs I wanted were too interested today. Nevermind!

This morning started with DWE finishing off the Wetlands Census at Fräknabotten as BNN conducted some Harrier nest finding over Rysjön then we both went to Åslaholmen to try for Harriers there.
