Weather: Cloudy and rainy with a lot of long showers.

The previous night we did the night census. As dusk is very late, we also finished the census very late. Actually the Yellowhammers were singing when we came back home, so it was morning for the Yellowhammers already. Therefore, we woke up very late to recover energy.

15th June

Ortolan Bunting.
After a brief meeting with Magnus Persson, research staff conducted watches on ortolan pairs through the day, collecting observations of feeding behaviour. Up to four nests might be active at the moment, at different stages of the cycle.

Weather: Nice day, sunny, with some rain clouds which happened to rain in Kvismaren for some time.

Ortolan observations started really early, already at 6 in the morning, accompanied by Magnus Persson, later at 8 o’clock Jan Sondell joined the group. Obervations lasted until 11 h, and one new unringed male was observed. In addition, a lot of feeding observations were registered.

12th of June

Weather: Raining day and a very sunny and windy afternoon

Projects: Skylarks, GRW, and Söron Nestboxes.

As usual an early morning for GRW team to quickly check all Kvismaren lakes before the heavy wind arrived. New male unringed was caught in a difficult dense area of reeds in Sörbysjön.

10th of June

Weather: Showers in the morning and cloudy in the afternoon

Today CDF woke up really early to do his Wetlands census. He saw three moose, besides many birds, a female with two calves.

The Ortolans work was cut short because of the bad weather, however,two males were found.

9th of June

Weather: LIttle wind, persistent rain for the late morning.

8th of June

Staff: Carles Durà i Franch (CDF), Laila (LAR), Cristina (CSP), Gintaras (GMA), Ana Jara (AJA) and Dennis (DHT).

Weather: Relatively cold, light drizzle, cloudy.

Projects: Ortolans, Nest boxes and GRW.

Ortolans.
One female was observed carrying caterpillar to an area where it is believed to be a nest, which indicates that she is feeding chicks.

It total, 30 nest boxes were checked in Söron, 9 were occupied by blue or great tits and 1 with pied-flycatcher.

1st May 2017

Weather: Still a little bit chilly for the iberian people

Weather: Very windy and with heavy rain at midday and late afternoon.

6th of June

Weather: Sunny with a little bit of wind.

Projects: Ortolans, Skylarks, Marsh Harriers and GRW.

Early in the morning CDF and CSP checked ortolans. Despite the good weather, the activity was still low. Later Magnus Persson came to help us.

After ortolans we went with AJA to built two towers to search for skylark´s nests, near Odensbacken.

At the afternoon, we observed Marsh Harriers in Oslaholmen.

5th of June

Weather: Not a bad sunny day, but extremely windy

Resting day!
(Finally!) A bad weather day that allowed everyone to have an afternoon off. Nevertheless, everyone made the morning to be a productive one.

Ortolans were checked by CDF and AJA, to check the new female.
