Weather: Mainly clear.
Projects: Ringing
Standardised Ringing
Today we ringed at Banvallen. A nice first year Spotted Flycatcher was caught, and apart from that the catch consisted of the usual suspects. Totals were as follows, with recaptures in brackets:
Robin 3 (1)
Thrush Nightingale 2
Sedge Warbler 3
Marsh Warbler 1
Reed Warbler 5
Garden Warbler 8
Blackcap 2 (1)
Willow Warbler 6
Spotted Flycatcher 1
Blue Tit 1
Great Tit 1
Red-backed Shrike (1)
Total: 33 + (3) = 36 birds of 12 species.
Observations
The ringing team had a close encounter with a curious fox in the early hours. It went back and forth close to the ringing table a few times, and then went down the path past the nets, seemingly not very bothered that there were people around.
