Weather: Started windy at Ängfallet but got calm very quickly. Heavy rain in the midday and sunny on the afternoon.
Projects: Great Reed Warbler, Standardized Ringing, Skylarks
Great Reed Warbler
TMJ and DHT went to check the state of segersjön. They found 3 nests and were able to caught a female GRW there.
MLA and MBR succesfully found a nest in Rysjön. Then, they went to Sörbysjön to check 8 of the nest placed there. All of the nests have growing chicks.
Standardized Ringing
The standardized ringing took place today at Banvallen. The surprise was a crane chick Alex has to successfully run behind and was ringed. Back in the mist nets, 59 birds were caught belonging to these species:
- Garden Warbler (S.borin): 7 (1 rec)
- Blackcap (S. atricapilla): 5
- Blue tit (C. caeruleus): 8 (1rec)
- Reed bunting (E.schoeniclus): 3
- Sedge warbler (A. schoenobaenus): 4 (1rec)
- Willow warbler (Ph.trochillus): 10 (5 rec)
- Robin (E.rubecula): 2
- Marsh Warbler (P.palustris): 1
- Reed Warbler (A.scirpaceus): 2
- Great tit (P.major): 3 (1rec)
- Thrush nightingale (L.luscinia): 4 (2rec)
- Blackbird (T.merula): 1
- Songthrush (T.philomelos): 1
- Goldcrest (R.regulus):1
- Crane (G.grus): 1
- Whitethroat (S. communis): 6 (4rec).
Skylarks
JMY, MPN and Jan went into the search of nest behaviour of Skylarks in Bärsta and Sörby. The saw some feeding behaviour and, then, they were able to spot areas of possible nest for the species.
