Great reed warbler
MBR visited Segersjön to check on progress. Jacob was out on Fågelsjön & Åslasjön and found three new nests, whilst TMJ & MLA visted Låten and found a single nest, MLA getting a bit wet in the process!
Ringing
Ringing started in earnest today with ‘The Team’ – CBS, MMJ & APN getting up at the very crack of dawn (that is, 02.30…) to head out and open the nets. The main species caught was common whitethroat, including several young. They were also treated to views of a peregrine falcon and a kingfisher.
Ortolan buntings
A delight this morning for JMY and MPN to see a second fledged ortolan chick at Lindåsabacken, both chicks flying up to parents to receive food. The luck continued at Husön where both male & female were observed carrying food into a nest site.
