Staff: DWE, JMY, MBR, EKP, TMJ, APN, MÅN, MMJ

Weather: Partly sunny with showers.
Projects: Great Reed Warbler, Crows, Passerines Nestboxes, Ortolan Bunting, Skylarks, Wetland survey, Night census.

Passerines Nestboxes
Around noon MMJ and APN went to Sörön nature reserve and checked the nestboxes there to ring passerine chicks. As this year was very bad most of them were not successful and/or predated. Were the great and blue tits failed, pied flycatchers seem to have overtaken the nestboxes, we found two nestboxes with eggs and one with pied flycatcher 6 chicks.

Crows
DWE cycled around to find more crow chicks and was able to find two more active nests with two chicks each, one in Aslaholmen and one in Rysjön. That makes a total of 10 chicks up till now.

Great reed warbler
The people of the great reed warbler project could confirm that new birds have arrived in Kvismaren. New nests were found all over Kvismaren.

Ortolan Bunting
EKP and JMY went to all known places where ortolan buntings have been confirmed so far to look for feeding couples. Of all these 5 locations only on one we could hear a male singing (Husön). We get the general impression that they got shyer, either because they are on eggs now but it could also be because of the bad weather and/or the harvest that is going on in Kvismaren valley right now.

Skylarks

This morning JMY, MMJ and EKP went out to re-establish observation plots on the harvested part of the hayfield just around Ängfallet. Meanwhile they could observe males displaying right above the harvested part. This is curious because we know from last year that they would be completely quiet right after harvest. The ongoing harvest might bring more results.

Misc
Two Hobbies have been seen today, one over Fågelsjön and one at Åslaholmen.
