Staff: DWE, JMY, EKP, MBR, TMJ
Weather: Cold, raining in the morning, nice & sunny in the afternoon.
Projects: Great Reed Warbler, Ortolans, Skylarks, Savi’s Warbler.
Early in the morrning DWE, JMY and EKP have been searching for Ortolan Bunting but without success mainly due to the bad weather. They later perfomed a census of cranes and greylags in Bärsta with very few compared to the evening count some days before (13 cranes vs 244 the last Thursday).
Then they observed skylark behaviour, searching for males displaying. They begin to be very active and a census will soon be done in the selected and marked fields. At the same time a Montagu´s Harrier have been filmed in the area. It seems to be an adult male.
Finally the same team have been looking for Savi´s Warbler and Penduline Tits in Östra Kvismaren and peripheric area. No penduline have been detected but two Savi´s have been found.
The team made by MBR and TMJ have began to colour-ring some newly established unringed male Great Reed Warblers. Two males have been captured and ringed in Åslasjön and another one in Nyängen. A new ringed singing male discovered in Åslasjön appears to be one seen before in Rysjön. In the afternoon, MBR managed to read the colour-rings and was able to identify as 8H-38 ringed in 2011.
