Weather: A cloudy and misty morning meant it started off quite cold before the sun broke through and it got up to around 25 degrees celcius. There was relatively no wind, not rising above 1m/s.

CES-Ringing: Today we were ringing at Vallen, a very steady day. Nowhere near our record of well over 200 for this sit but still enough birds to keep us ticking over. A summary of todays catch is as follows:

Yesterday Helena told you that myself, Bruno and Annemarie were taken out by Magnus Friberg to see Eagle Owl. Unfortunately we didn’t see them however while driving through the forest we came across something much, much better than any Eagle Owl – an adult Male Eurasian Lynx! About 30km away from the observatory still in Narke we were looking for Moose when it walked across the road in front of our car and stopped allowing us to get amazing views in broad daylight for around 15 seconds before it scarpered away back into the forest, never to be seen again! Unfortunately no photos however I can tell you it was an impressive beast, a very bright individual obviously still in it’s summer coat. Another great reason to come to Kvismaren!

We are going out tonight to see if we can carry on the mammalfest with Beavers at Obe Kulle, if we have even a millionth of the luck we had yesterday I’m sure we will see them!

Over and out,

KLE
