patchy day...

Personel: Teresa, Magnus, Helena, Marianne, Daniel, Lena

Weather: very mixed, sun, clouds, rain(storms), wind

Projects: GRW, Marsh Harriers, Farmland Birds, Ringing-Preparation

Today was a very patchy day. For the weather, which switched constantly from rainstrorms to sun to clouds to rain and in any other respect as well. At least for the GRW-team. The good news are that we found a long lost-nest and we caught a logger female which did not lose her logger (like some of the former birds).

The Ortolan-logger female, however,  is like fallen off the face of the earth. The Farmland-team is very concerned about that (!!) and assumes that she moved to another woodland. The second pair in Ängfallet is fine and has recently  been very active in feeding their chicks.

The Farmland-Bird-Project is slowly coming to a temporary ending and the team is currently searching for the last missing nests but new projects are not long in coming and as the Ringing season will be starting soon, Daniel and Magnus are now preparing the toolsand the streams for the Netgates.

Daniel, by the way, is our new fellow from Newcastle who will stay for a couple of weeks.

Him and Helena continued to study the Marsh Harrier Flyways today. They observed Västra Fågelsjön but there was hardly any activity. So no news from the Harriers.

Marianne, Magnus, Helena and Daniel also did the regulary crane counting in Huson today and counted up to around 1000 cranes. The official number is 805.

Nothing left to say,

have a nice evening
