Great Reed Warblers arrived!

Personel; TMJ, TLR, LSS, NDL

Weather; sunny morning but cloudy from noon on, sometimes windy and quite fresh

Projects; Marsh Harrier nests, Skylarks

After we already located all Marsh Harrier nests in Åslasjön and Fågelsjön, we went on with our everlasting quest at Rysjön, Nyängen and Värstamaden. This resulted in one further nest at Värstamaden where we could observe birds carrying nesting material and a possible nest at Rysjön. This, however, we will check again tomorrow.

From now on we will also try to identify the male Marsh Harriers to see which one is responsible for which nest. That will be a very challenging task since they all look more or less alike.

Meanwhile also the Skylark project is running. Right now it is mainly about finding the areas in the fields in and around Kvismare where Skylarks are present. Even though we don’t have any results yet, it is safe to say that Skylarks seem to be very abundant here.

Also today the first Great Reed Warbler of this year was reported in Kvismare. That means that our working schedule will drastically change in the upcoming week. But more news about that are to come during the next days!
