Personnel; MKS, TMJ, EKA, 1x ’Crane Girl’ (the other has a weekend off),
Magnus Friberg (MFG), Bo Nielsen, Patrik Rhönnstad & Jan Sondell all visited us for the ringing this morning.
Weather; Bright, sunny and warm again becoming quite hot by late morning. It has been an unusually hot and dry summer – how long will it continue?
Projects; Standardised CES Ringing (Vallen, Fågelsjön)
Ringing totals; Nets 05:50 – 1:00
Reed Warbler 26
Sedge Warbler 13
Dunnock 1
Robin 2
Willow Warbler 6
Reed Bunting 17
Bluethroat 2 (1cy Male & 2+cy Male)
White Wagtail 1
Blackcap 2
Goldfinch 1
Greenfinch 1
TOTAL = 72 (+ 10 Controls)
As usual, Reed Warblers were the main catch of the day and the year – we have ringed 1056 so far in 2013.
Bluethroat are always welcome and these are the 8th and 9th of the season, a significant increase on the last 2 years.
Other; A committee meeting was held at the observatory during the afternoon. Hans Waern attended as well as the 4 mentioned above.
In the evening, under the cover of darkness, MFG went out undercover in an attempt to catch Nightjar. Although unsuccessful, he saw 2 Moose and had to chase some Wild Boar away from the net so it sounds like he had fun anyway.
