Weather; A little misty in the morning but this soon cleared into another bright sunny day. Almost no wind but some cloudy spells in the afternoon.

The Barred Warbler was the clear highlight of the morning and represents the 17th to be ringed at the observatory, all but 3 of which have been caught at Vallen. This is the 3rd year in a row the species has been caught here.
Other; Jonas became the third person this season to sink in a deep muddy ditch by walking along the wrong side of the nets during a net round! Lesson learnt – he will stick to the boardwalks from now on. In the evening we picked up Ewa Karaszewska (from Poland) who will be joining the team as a working guest for the next 2 weeks.
