12th of June
Staff: Carles Durà i Franch (CDF), Laila (LAR), Cristina (CSP), Gintaras (GMA), Ana Jara (AJA), Mariana (MLA), Fran (FGA)
Weather: Raining day and a very sunny and windy afternoon
Projects: Skylarks, GRW, and Söron Nestboxes.
As usual an early morning for GRW team to quickly check all Kvismaren lakes before the heavy wind arrived. New male unringed was caught in a difficult dense area of reeds in Sörbysjön.
As it was again a rainy morning, Ortolans observations were postponed for a better weather. Later in the morning, FGA joined the ringing team for Söron nest boxes, which is now done and complete.
Luckily that FGA was around, as the team had the opportunity to see some of their questions being answered regarding standardized ringing. A lot of tips and advices were being shared, and it is always nice to speak with someone that have been doing the same work before.
However, in the afternoon it was time to say goodbye to Fran. We did try to keep him around, but apparently he didn't lost the train... Nevertheless, we heard it was worth to travel 5000km for 'an awesome weekend' at Kvismaren, even with bad weather! Isn't it nice to hear such positive thing about Kvismaren? :)
In the evening, everyone at the station was happy to join for the first time for some 'movie night'. During dinner time, the main social activity with all Ängfallet family together, we all enjoyed some take out food with a nice movie. Given the bad weather outside, we couldn't have had a more pleasant night altogether enjoying the big screen, some pop corn and cozy sofas and chairs.
(Update from today, Jun 14th, from Kvismaren board: apparently films at Ängfallet are forbidden and the couch has no place at Ängfallet from now on, not so cozy anymore for social activities).
The last couple of days got really busy out in the field, not to mention the office work that also needs to be done, but I do apologize for the delay in the blog. Nevertheless, here it is the blog, being written at 01.00am, so its done!
Keep reading it, faithful readers!
(Fran, we know you're here!)
