Marsh Harriers
We looked for two nest. We could find one nest but the chicks were too small to be ringed.

We tried to find some skylark nests but, sadly, we couldn’t find any.

Skylark and Ortolan observations were carried out in the morning, and in the afternoon the first marsh harrier chicks of the season were ringed.

Skylark and Ortolan observations were made in the morning, and in the afternoon marsh harrier observations were made. As well, a preparation to repair a boardwalk and grass cutting has begun today.

Today was really sunny and the female has been active, we saw her eating in Lindåsabaken. The male and other female were seen in Andersson this afternoon.

The previous night we did the night census. As dusk is very late, we also finished the census very late. Actually the Yellowhammers were singing when we came back home, so it was morning for the Yellowhammers already. Therefore, we woke up very late to recover energy.

After a brief meeting with Magnus Persson, research staff conducted watches on ortolan pairs through the day, collecting observations of feeding behaviour. Up to four nests might be active at the moment, at different stages of the cycle.

Weather: Nice day, sunny, with some rain clouds which happened to rain in Kvismaren for some time.

Ortolan observations started really early, already at 6 in the morning, accompanied by Magnus Persson, later at 8 o’clock Jan Sondell joined the group. Obervations lasted until 11 h, and one new unringed male was observed. In addition, a lot of feeding observations were registered.

As usual an early morning for GRW team to quickly check all Kvismaren lakes before the heavy wind arrived. New male unringed was caught in a difficult dense area of reeds in Sörbysjön.
