Today has been busy and fruitful day for everybody. DWE, MLA and LST have managed to ring all starling chicks in one day with a total of 176 chicks from 44 nest boxes (in Ängfallet, Öby Kulle, Hammarmaden, Fiskingemaden and Sörösletten). Lucky them, they have also found 3 Ortolan Bunting males singing in Sörösletten and1 possible pair and another male in the South Sörösletten.
GRW team (LAR, MBR, JRD and DHT) doesn’t have any break as new males are still arriving, along with new females moving around and establishing. All lakes were checked, with two news males around: 1 in Nyängen (singing LS) and the other in Rysjön (in silent-just arrived). In Sörbysjöin, the sixth male was trapped and the first female for the season was observed with material nest and her nest was also found it (10% already built!!!). No change was observed in Åslajön, despite its high density of males singing: all of them (7) were singing long songs and no female was moving around or heard. In Rysjön, the stable pair was building a new nest as the other was depredated and we also tried to identify the other 2 males singing with no luck.
