Staff: DWE,

Weather: Cold start, but warm and sunny day (and it feels good to say so!)

Projects: Wetland Census, Marsh Harrier

Today was the beginning of Wetland Census part 2, with Åslajön and Fågeljön surveyed. Just for fun, all the geese feeding on Öbyåkern decided to visit Fågeljön whilst I was counting.

Tufted Duck: 6 pairs, 1 adult
Coot: 2 pairs, 4 adults
Red-necked Grebe: 1 pair, 1 adult
Lapwing: 8
Snipe: 2
Black-headed Gull: 4
Bittern: 1

Åslajön

Whooper Swan: 1 pair
Greylag Geese: 50
Mallard: 1 pair
Tufted Duck: 3 pairs
Coot: 2
Red-necked Grebe: 1
Green Sandpiper: 1

After the Wetland Census I looked for Marsh Harriers and found a female nestbuilding in the difficult location of Sörbyjön or maybe a little behind there, will need to observe from another angle to get a better position.

Also this afternoon, Marianna has arrived to assist with the work at Kvismaren, she will stay from 2 and a half months, welcome!
