17th August 2015
Staff: MMJ, APN, LDC, HHT
Weather: Mainly clear, wind increasing from mid-morning.
Projects: Ringing
Standardised Ringing
Standardised ringing took place in Vallen with a typically nice mix of species and some good birding along with it. We also had a recapture Reed Warbler with a ring from Belgium – always nice to get a foreign recapture! Totals were as follows, with recaptures in brackets:
Sedge Warbler 19 (1)
Marsh Warbler 8 (1)
Reed Warbler 13 (4)
Lesser Whitethroat 1
Whitethroat 2
Garden Warbler 1
Willow Warbler 3
Blue Tit 2 (2)
Reed Bunting 4 (2)
Yellowhammer 0(1)
Great Tit 0(3)
Thrush Nightingale 0(1)
Observations
2 Great Egrets were flushed from Fågelsjön by the White-tailed Eagles. 10 Bean Geese were in fields adjacent Vallen with the large Greylag flock. A Wryneck was flushed from the path by Öbymaden which was clearly a new-in migrant.
