Weather: Very cloudy at early morning and got sunny and windy later.

Projects: Great Reed Warbler, Skylark, Standarized Ringing, Ortolan buntings, Marsh Harrier, Wetland Census

Great Reed Warbler
MBR went to Åslasjön in search to figure out which female of the two breeding there was left –there were two before belonging to the same male. One was unlucky enough to get predated her nest and the second one did well and had chicks fledging. The more likely female still in Åslasjön is the one who had chicks. Also, a new male appear and the old and new male are in a singing contest to get the female.
On the other hand, TMJ and JRD went to Sorbysjön with the aim of ringed the chicks. 8 nests were checked in total. The chicks of two of the nest were old enough to ring. Three adults were also caught around these nests. Six more nests were checked, founding tree with eggs in the process of hatching. New nest was found.

Standardised Ringing
CBS, APN and MMJ went to Vallen for standarized ring. 24 mist nets were set up. It was a really calm bird day, with only 35 birds falling in the nets. Most common capture probably the Reed Warbler, and one bearded tit was also ringed. Some chicks of blue tits and whitethroat are already wandering around and got caught in the nets. Besides, great and blue tits and willow warblers are starting their moults.

Ortolan buntings
MPN and JMY tried to spot nest of ortoland buntings in Segersjön. Unfortunately, no nests were detected.

Skylarks
JMY went to survey the 6th skylark plot into the organic farmland. She detects lower skylark number than expected, but she spotted an Osprey. Then, she went to do some of the office work needed.

Wetland census
The Wetland census report is being completed by JMY. Part of this job was made today.

Marsh Harrier
TMJ showed to APN, CBS and APN the exact location of the Marsh Harrier nests in östra fågeljön and the one visible from Åslaholmen
