Weather: Sunny, with rainy showers, very strong winds in the afternoon.
Projects: Hooded Crow, Skylark, Great Reed Warbler, Spotted Crake.
Yesterday evening, MFG went out in determination to finally catch one of the Spotted Crakes on Hammarmaden. He succeeded!
Today DWE and EKP took on searching Crow nests for chicks to count and came to a slightly better success rate with 2 nests each holding a single chick. Currently we have 18 nests that seem to be occupied and are working on counting the chicks in these.
MBR, Micke and TMJ went out on the Great Reed Warbler team and MBR was successful in catching 3 birds in what was a very still and good morning for the nets to be open.
At the same time JMY and MPN were checking the recently cut hayfields, looking for skylark activity as well as predator activity.
In the evening, the team got together for a BBQ which was great fun, even though we were pretty much blown away in gale force winds.
