30th May 2015
Staff: DWE, JMY, MBR, EKP, TMJ
Weather: Rainy and windy
Projects: Great Reed Warbler and Wetland and Skylark Surveys
This morning MBR, MTA and DWE went to Sorbysjön to try to locate a nest near the gulls' colony and to check for the nest along the canal. Due to the weather conditions and trying to avoid the gulls' nesting activities we haven't been able to locate the nest. One new male discovered two days ago also has disappeared.
TMJ covered the area of Rysjön and Åslajön and discovered a new singing male in Åslajön.
In the afternoon the weather conditions were even worse so MBR spent time repairing a unique and useful 6m long net to catch Great Reed Warblers.
JMY and EKP have done the wetland survey in Fiskingemaden and Fräknabotten. They also did the skylark survey on plots near Öby Kulle and Ängfallet on springs corn fields and hay fields as they expect the first mowing of hay as soon as this horrible weather is over.
