Weather: Another very warm day (and no complaints from us!) with a breeze in the afternoon.

Projects: Marsh Harrier and Hooded Crow and Raven

A little more success with the Marsh Harriers this morning with us confirming a previously suspected nest on Rysjön and 3 definite females identified (Dark, Cream and White as we are starting to refer to them as) and possibly another pair, though as typical it all started happening at the same time so 2 sets of eyes on multiple pairs it was hard to tell what was what! Plan is to confirm this as soon as possible.

A very productive day on the Corvid nest searching, with a second new Raven nest in as many days. Both these nests were not recorded on the last census 5 years ago so will have moved into the area in the last few years highlighting the expansion of the species in the Kvismaren locality. On top of the Raven nest we found 3 new crow nests, leaving our total at 24. Adding the Ravens and single confirmed Buzzard nest that brings us to 30 nests so far and we are hopeful for a good few more!

I got my first Tree Pipit of the year (after DHO got his yesterday morning, pays to be up 5 minutes earlier!) at Ängfallet and after the delight of the first Willow Warblers of the year (at least 2 at Öby kulle) we proceeded to find more birds throughout the day with 1 near Norrbyås and then 3 at least this evening in Fiskingeskogen accompanied by a fly over Greenshank. MFG and TMJ saw the Red Breasted Goose again on Ängfalla åkrar and DHO and DWE heard the Lesser White fronted Goose in a similar location at sundown. I also heard my first Black Woodpecker today, but failed to secure any views of the bird, the quest continues!
