Food is the key to a good days work

The great reed warbler team headed to Egeby in the early hours of the morning in search of nests, finding another two new nests and ringing the chicks discovered in one of them. The female of the nest was ringed at Kvismaren last year showing it has returned. Hurray !!

The farmland team had a great day confirming a new Ortolan Bunting nesting site in one of the conventional fields, unfortunately they also discovered that the farmer wanted to spray pesticides on the crop. Magnus persuaded the very generous farmer to not spray the crop until a later date hopefully keeping the chicks out of harms way.

Daniel and Helena spent the morning decimating the invasive willows from the reedbed to create net poles for the start of the Constant effort ringing that is starting shortly. They also created net rides for the nets in preparation for Saturday.

The marsh harrier flyways were also recorded with a number of food passes being observed between males and females.

The afternoon was spent entering data, while guests August and Bengt arrived
