Rainbow Monday

Personal: Teresa, Magnus, Helena, Daniel, Lena, Marianne

Weather: Almost all the weathers except snow!

Projects; Great Reed Warbler; Farmland Birds; Ringing setup, Marsh Harriers Flyways

Today the GRW Team checked out all the nests in Nyängen and Rysjön. All the ringed chicks until now are now fledged there and successfully grown. They could observe these Great Reed Warbler chicks fledged very near, which is a very pleasant observation!

The Farmland team also had very nice bird observation today: They had the chance to observe an Ortolan male in Hüson sit down in a rock very close to them! They also intended a last trial of catching the Ortolan logger female that just bred in Ängfallet 10 days ago. But it seems now, after 5 days of non-detection, that she went to another woodland in the area… it will be difficult now to find her again.

Concerning Skylark nest research, a second nest has been found recently in the Eko crops. Blood sample and ringing has been done on 4 chicks! This project is now going to be fully completed, with only few nests to find now.

Daniel and Helena are now preparing the net gates for the ringing activity that will begin soon. They also worked on the Marsh Harriers Flyways in Västra Fågelsjön.

On the evening, Magnus’s friend called Jans just arrived! He will join the Farmland team for a couple of days.
