All Marsh Harrier nests at Åslasjön found

Personel; TMJ, TLR, LSS, NDL

Weather; warm and sunny with freshening-up wind in the evening

Projects; Marsh Harrier nests, Ortolan Bunting

As usual our day began with lots of Marsh Harriers. But there is a silver lining at the horizon that we will be able to finish this project for now, because today we could confirm all the unsure locations at Åslasjön. That means we found a total of 11 nests in Östra Kvismaren. For the next days we will concentrate on Rysjön and Nyängen so that we can finally close the book of Marsh Harriers until their chicks hatch.

At noon Lena and Teresa went for a shopping tour to Örebro because a new paddle for our canoes was needed. They came back with a nice black one which looks quite fast.

Additionally Nico began his search for the Ortolan Bunting which had some nesting sites in Kvismare during the last years. However, no Ortolan Buntings could be found which is not a big surprise because this year they haven’t been reported in Sweden yet.

Let’s hope they will show up soon.
