We were up early as usual for another good morning of ringing with a steady stream of birds. Not a big daily total but some nice species including another unexpected treat.

Well, the surprises just keep coming… this has been a good week! This is only the 6th Red-breasted Flycatcher ringed at the observatory with the previous birds caught in 1989, 1990, 1995, 2006 and 2011.
The Redstart is the 5th to be caught this year, the third at this site.
Other, Jan Sondell and Bo Nielsen from the Kvismare Bird Observtory committee both arrived and will stay the night. During the afternoon MKS carried out some minor repair work to the new boardwalks at Vallen and trimmed back some vegetation from the net lanes.
