15th June 2016
Staff:MLA, LST, LAR, MBR, DHT, GMA, MPN
Weather: Cloudy and windy day
Projects: Great Reed Warbler, Skylark, Marsh Harrier, Ortolan Bunting, Wetland Survey, Night Census
The day started with LST and MBR going out for the Wetland Census in Fräknabotten, Sörbysjön, Hammarmaden and Killigenmaden.
After that, the GRW team surveyed all lakes in Kvismaren during the morning. MBR had a nest with hatched chicks in Sörbysjön and LAR another one in Åslasjön. Everything else seems to go just fine, no predated nests.
The rest of the team split with LST going to Åslaholmen to do Marsh Harrier observations, with interesting interactions between females observed. MLA went once again to Mörby for Skylark feeding observations. MPN surveyed Lindåsabacken and Sörosletten to do feeding observations as well and keep an eye on this protected species. Later MPN joined MLA for helping out with some more feeding observations.
In the afternoon was time for LST and MLA start to prepare the standardized ringing season, and later tonight will be time for Night Census.
And finally, a good new from today! MBR had a first hatched egg off Little Gul today in Sörbysjön!
