Projects: MARSH HARRIER

We have been Fiskinge and we have found a new nest in the area. Besides, we have observed that ruffs and common greenshanks have arrived to Kvismaren.

Also, we have visited Rysjön and Löten to confirm the location of the previous identified territories.

Weather: A little bit rainny in the morning and sunny the rest of the day

We have gone to Ormkull-platform and we have confirmed the location of three territories,and found a new one.
Also we have had the chance of seen a white-tailed eagle and a bittern, it have been a very excited day.

Weather: Clear and a bit windy in the morning.

We have come back to Åslaholmen becouse yesterday we observed a lot of marsh harriers from there. In Fågelsjön, we have seen 2 females and 4 males. In Åslasjön we have found a nest and we have seen several males and females foraging in the area. It looks like marsh harriers like this region.

Weather: Clear in the morning and lightly cloudy in the afternoon. Quite windy.

From Åslaholmen, we have seen 4 females and at least 6 males. Besides, we found two nest in the area. We observed in the area many reed buntings and greylag gooses, a couple of red-necked grebe... Also, we have been hearing the bittern all the time, we hope we could also see it.

We have been in the platform of Löten and identified one territory, also, we have seen one of the pairs of yesterday that we saw in Rysjön.

We have came back to Sörön to change the ones that were broken, we still have a bit of work to do here, but it´s almost ready!.

We have been in Rysjön and identified two territories, we have seen both females carrying material for the nest.

We have been in Sörön also this afternoon, checking and cleaning the nest boxes, tomorrow we will change and fix some of them that were on the ground or broken.

We have done the first census of the season! It was a bit hard becouse although at the day it´s sunny and quite warm, at the mornings is still winter.
We have done some areas of the wetlands, and tomorrow we will finish :)

Work at the bird observatory this year

Do you want to work for us this year?
We are looking for personel for this year's field season.
What we need is 2-3 persons who will work with our various projects during the period from the mid April until the end of June. A couple of the projects you will work with is the wetland surveys and our ortolan bunting project.
In addition to this, we need ringers and ringing assistants from midsummer until the end of September.
