Weather: Sunny and windy
Projects: Ortolan Bunting, GRW, night census
After a brief meeting with Magnus Persson, research staff conducted watches on ortolan pairs through the day, collecting observations of feeding behaviour. Up to four nests might be active at the moment, at different stages of the cycle.
The GRW team checked all the lakes. Two new nests were found, two loggers were removed and two new loggers were put on birds, so the balance of loggers at the end of the day = 0.
The Night Census was carried out in still and cloudy conditions. It might as well be called the Sedge Warbler Census because they seemed to be everywhere and in large numbers, contrasting with little else of other species.
